Re: PICK UP for UPRIGHT

You would be better served getting a cheap and dirty microphone preamp like one of those Art Tube things to have some control over the mic gain before you send it to a board or whatever you're recording to. I use one occasionally for simple stuff. It's a great piece of gear for 50 bucks and some bed...

Re: PICK UP for UPRIGHT

You have things backwards. I don't recommend using a pickup to record upright bass. It will sound like dog shit, or like a bass guitar. Any microphone is going to sound better than a pickup. Even a '57 on a stick will sound better than a pickup. The only reason to put a pickup on your upright is to ...

Re: Local Early 90s Song / 14X Rebel Radio

You're in the right place, but unfortunately this place is a ghost town these days. The people that could answer the question probably haven't logged in since George Dub'ya was president.

Yep. At least once a year some new troll signs up, fires off enough nonsense to get a couple of responses, then we go dark again.

Re: Seven , So Low , and Ida

Without knowing what comes with those setup sets, I can't really say. I've had the benefit of access to a guitar workshop for the majority of my life, so I never had to purchase any tools myself. Make sure you have a good set of screw drivers, allen wrenches, and a heavy straight edge. I don't think...

The lights are still on

Too bad no one is around this place anymore. We could have had one hell of a dumpster fire in this forum.

Re: Seven , So Low , and Ida

Regarding the '51: It sounds to me like you fell in love with the look or idea of having a vintage style bass, but didn't fully understand what you were getting. You get a '51 reissue, you get what they had back then. As far as the bridge goes I'm going to assume that it's the two saddle design that...
