Fox News and MSNBC

Postby donkeypunch » November 13th, 2014, 1:06pm

So Dish Network (my choices of TV are few and far between) is in a contract pissing match with Turner Broadcasting....Turner yanked all their stations. All I want to do in the morning is have some coffee and catch up on some National news when I get ready to start the day. Say what you want about CNN but man do I miss it (ok there is the Robin Meade factor as well).

Fox News and MSNBC show no stories in the morning unless they can have a political take on it. Beyond annoying. Cat gets stuck in a tree....Obama's fault....Dolphins beach themselves in Florida....Marco Rubio's fault......

You know....in the last six months I find my self on both sides of aisle more and more.....and I watch Bill Maher...and think he's really funny.

I watch Rachel Maddow's show [from the night before] every morning.

While both she and Bill Maher are both very political, I really appreciate all the background information she provides so that the political noise has some context.

She has some pretty amazing researchers.

In general I can't stand political reporting. The idea that every opinion has to be a stance skewed all the way to the right or left, with no room for logic or compromise is about as relevant as a my dad can beat up your dad argument.

Robin Meade doesn't do much for me. She's as dumb as a box of hammers, and looks like the result of a lot of plastic surgery and botox. I've seen manikins with more life like expression to them.

Google news is nice because you can read several sources reporting on the same stories, which makes it even more interesting at times.

While I understand Rachel Maddow has a slight partisan bend, the background and context reporting is worth it.

The best level handed reporting of all news [beyond just political] comes from NPR and the NewsHour.

I also frequent NPR. They have some great music performances there as well.
