About
When I was in high school, WNYMusic.com was the only way a geeky 16-year-old kid from the suburbs could find out about the Buffalo music scene. I made friends, discovered bands, and even got some gigs out of it.
The website was created in 1996, peaked in 2005, and has been (mostly) a graveyard since 2012.
Now it’s back and in a big way!
We are now a volunteer-run website for musicians and fans by musicians and fans. We’re bringing back The List of local bands (which features over 500 local bands). There is now a blog with numerous writers from around Western New York, and we host four podcasts. Most recently, we launched the WNYMusic.com archive as a place to trace back the history of WNY music and share exclusive concert bootlegs of local artists.
If you’re interested in helping out, please send us a message. We need programmers, writers, photographers, designers, social media people, and any other position you think you might be able to rock.
I was given this website for free with the stipulation that I do it justice. I plan to do just that. Come join us! Any help is welcome and appreciated to further blaze a path that allows local artists and their music to shine.
