Nine Layers Deep
Coming from the dank dark practice basements of frigid Buffalo, New York, Nine Layers Deep are unveiling truly potent doom metal mayhem. These Helmet Lady Records signees have rapidly built a name on heavy showgoing and a deep dedication to the scene. Built on the roots of longstanding friendships and a deep passion for the Melvins, Nine Layers Deep have established a reputation as hometown heroes. Their DIY ethics have seem them grow rapidly and play with everyone from Monolord to Jucifer by way of Mos Generator.
The original purveyors of “Sludge Life” a parody of Tupac’s infamous “Thug Life,” the band use their music to fight the viscous trials and tribulations of the modern age. Living the sludge life is how Nine Layers Deep are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Meanwhile, the bands name is meant as a reference to the nine circles of hell, reflecting on notions of both the struggle of existence and the bands overarching themes of depression. This is the sound of broken bones and human suffering in the name of sharing their music with the metal loving populace.
Firmly rooted in underground filth and with weighty ambitions to match their filthy tones, Nine Layers Deep are looking to take on the world. With their debut full length on the way after years of hard work and a reputation as one of the Northeasts’ great stoner doom hopes it seems like things are finally breaking their way. Powerful, heavy and undeniably potent Nine Layers Deep are bringing thoughtful and simply crushing doom metal to the masses and forcing you to choke on their wonderfully bitter sonic pill.
