Buffalo Infringement Festival Photo Gallery

Infringement is about so much more than just the music! As patrons of all forms of art, we are proud to present work from some of Buffalo’s amazingly talented and home-grown artists as a part of this year’s festival.

K.V. Frick

“If you had told me, when I was preparing to graduate from SUNY Purchase’s School of Art+Design, that in 10 years, I’d be painting landscapes … I would have laughed at you. Yet, here I am! As I age, I’ve been learning to truly appreciate the simple things in life, such as a colorful sunset or a good hike. It is when I feel connected with nature that I feel my best, so I used my watercolor landscapes as an escape from the long Buffalo winters. When the state shut down due to the pandemic, I painted dreamy ‘cloudscapes’ to escape the isolation and anxiety of quarantine.  I hope viewing these paintings helps you remember how beautiful our world can be.”

Joy Murphy

Joy Murphy is an artist, peaceful activist, entertainer, volunteer and mom of 7. She works in many mediums, from clay to balloons; she is all about making others smile and empowerment. Being in Infringement is truly an honor, she says, with this being her 11th show this year. She’s really proud of being able to help during the pandemic and volunteer always with various groups such as Buffalo Mutual Aid Network, Push Buffalo, The Buffalo Dream Center,  Creative Mornings, Meals on Wheels, and more. “Creativity and love … It’s what we do here in Buffalo!”

You can find Joy Murphy’s video on how to make balloon hearts on Day #6 (The Variety Pack). You can also find more of her creations at www.murphyrobisoncreations.com.

Jessica Glaser

I am a provisional deacon in the United Methodist Church. Deeply angered by the decisions of the February 2019 churchwide special session, which voted to continue to exclude most GLBTQIA+ persons from the ordination process and refuse to perform same-sex weddings in our churches, I created this art in protest. I displayed much of this art in random places around the OnCenter in Syracuse during the Upper New York Annual Conference in 2019. I wanted to show how, as a queer person, these policies tell me that my voice, my faith, and my contributions to the church are not actually valued or welcomed. I also wanted to use my visible privilege as a bisexual person in a heterosexual marriage to stand up for my brothers, sisters, and siblings in Christ who do not have such privilege. While the discriminatory policy still stands, many UMC members in Upper New York stood up in support of the GLBTQIA+ community at that conference (some even came out as GLBTQIA+ on the floor, which was amazingly brave!), and at this time those of us who are part of and stand with the GLBTQIA+ community within the UMC are hoping for a denomination separation that will allow us to bring this community into full affirmation as members and leaders with welcoming congregations.
You can find me in my garden in Pendleton, getting lunch on certain weekdays at the Starbucks at Delaware and Chippewa, at Asbury UMC in Amherst on Sunday mornings, or on LinkedIn.

Kathy Campbell

Come check out these amazing paintings, bright, bold and beautiful, very mesmerizing. It’s not just pouring paint, it’s all in controlling the canvas to make the chaos. Lots of different techniques. I use tools to blow, swipe, pull, press, tilt and anything else I can think of to get the paint moving. I want to infringe with chaos! These are not only feel good paintings to look at but feel good paintings to make! I would love to talk to you about the process, show you how to paint one or I can make you a commissioned piece. I’ve made them very affordable so everyone can have a piece of local art. I’m trying to spread the good feeling around! This is my 7th year infringing. You can see them in person at Spot Coffee on Hertel.

Gabby Morganti

I am an artist from Buffalo, NY who loves horror and anything spooky. I use bright pastels, bold ink lines and colorful watercolors to tell stories of terrors that haunt our imaginations. I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in local comic cons and art shows in our community. If interested in viewing my art I have a space at the Huntsman: House of Tattoos as a Microblading Artist that I also use as a studio. Prints of my pieces can be found on my Etsy too! Thanks for looking!
