The Struggle is Real Buffalo Music Podcast

  • Social Media – We have a social media coordinator who sets our schedule, but we could use someone to assist her this spring. This may include creating images and writing posts.
  • Promotion – Outreach to help us get on other podcasts and get the word out.
  • Script Writing – This is a fun writing position. 80% of the writing is music information, the other 20% is jokes/comedy/ranting/nonsense/etc.
  • Music Acquisition – Find new music to play on the podcast.
  • Producing Drops – Producing short 5-10 second clips to use between segments of the podcast.
  • Guest acquisition – Getting good guests is vital and can be difficult. We’ll help get you started and send you into scenarios where you’ll be dealing with some of Buffalo’s top musicians.

Side Quests During the Apocalypse

  • Video game YouTube channel
  • Need video editors to help create content for the main page, promotional videos, and extras.
  • Social media coordinator

Buffalo Infringement Festival Pre-Planning

  • Social Media / PR – We need someone to manage our social media, help consolidate our many duplicate accounts created over the years, oversee the creation of our new website, set up events for upcoming meetings/fundraisers/performances/etc, and more.
  • Scheduling for the Festival – In 2021, in music only we had 105 acts, 250 performances, and over 50 venues. Scheduling is a giant puzzle that involves setting up the schedule, contacting bands about their dates/times/locations, and then confirming the week before the festival. Scheduling doesn’t have to be only music. We need people to help with visual art, dance, theater, workshops, and all our other areas.
  • Venue Management – Our festival is nothing without our venues. We need to contact last year’s venues and make sure they’re still on board while also checking out new businesses in the neighborhood who might be interested in hosting an event.
  • Fundraising – Right now, our big fundraiser is “Mark Freeland (The Coloring Book)”. Mark Freeland is a beloved, deceased, local artist. I think this book will be a hit if we advertise and promote it properly.
  • Program Design – A big festival needs a big program. Here is 2015’s http://www.dailypublic.com/sites/default/files/attachments/2014/Dec/Buffalo-Infringement-Festival-2015-web.pdf
  • Pre-Planning – Planning what venues will need what equipment, where volunteers will be, and if all of the bands have a place to sleep. These are the smaller picture details that are vitally important in the weeks leading up to the festival.
  • Finding sponsorships. The festival is anti-capitalist and does not allow sponsors to dictate what is or is not in the festival. However, we are happy to work with local businesses and have sponsorships.

Buffalo Infringement Festival Durin the Festival

  • Ryan Assistant (During Festival) – Infringement Days can run 14 hours long. I wear many hats. This is basically an assistant job of following me around and filling in holes throughout the festival. The position may not be glamorous, but you’ll see some really cool stuff.
  • Venue Czar – Serve as a liaison between our bands and the venues. I had czars at all but two performances last year. Guess which two had AWFUL problems?
  • Photo/Videographer – We need all the footage we can get. With so much cool stuff going on, there are always opportunities to catch some cool stuff.
  • Live Sound – We have to supply PA systems for some of our events and we need people to run them, too. This simple PA system work and training can be provided.
