Review: “Who Are The Burkharts” by The Burkharts

Buffalo indie-rock group The Burkharts have been a well-known band in the WNY music scene for a few years now, notable for their matching yellow sweaters and unmatched chaotic stage presence. Their new EP, “Who Are The Burkharts?,” strives to create a unique and mesmerizing sound that will leave the audience coming back for more.

The record begins with the single “To Be Your Lover,” which perfectly captures a ’60s Beach Boys sound in a modern setting. This is the type of music you can’t help but groove to, and that continues throughout the EP.

Another standout is the song “With a Friend Like You,” in which the band takes their harmonies to a whole new level, calling back to records from 50 years ago. “Pretty Words” takes this same inspiration but goes in another direction, creating a slower, bouncy love song with playful production throughout to keep the listener engaged.

Overall, this is an EP you don’t want to miss. I think we will be looking back on this project at the end of the year as one of the best that we’ve listened to.
