Post Prom Crushes their EP Release

Mohawk Place rang in the new year with a banger of a lineup on December 30th. With plenty of band interaction and an electric energy, it was no surprise that the crowd kept getting bigger by the minute to see the main attraction, Post Prom, perform their newly released EP.

Buffalo Talent on Display

The night started off with Tuesday Nite, featuring the elegant vocal harmonies and dreamy instrumentals of singer/guitarists Sara Elizabeth and Courtney Ann. The crowd was treated to some comedy after that as comedian Katarina Valentine took that stage. It is not easy to perform jokes to a crowd expecting to hear music, but Katarina was not afraid. As soon as Max Kaczor introduced Katarina, the four-year veteran of stand-up took control and had the crowd howling with laughter with jokes about the challenges faced by trans women.

I had a chance to speak to Katarina and ask her what she thought of her performance. Katarina said, “It’s really fun when you do a mix show with comedy and something else, because you never know what you’re gonna get. Like, you don’t know if there are some people there just for comedy or the music, but it’s a great environment and I really loved tonight.”

Crowd Pleasers

Next, Katarina introduced California Cousins, with Jordan Serrano on Vocals/Bass, Christian Ortiz on Vocals/Guitar and Juan Ortiz on Drums. The rhythm of the drums was absolutely contagious, pulsating through the floorboards of Mohawk. Mixed with Serrano and Ortiz’s energetic vocals, the music was full of emotion.

Indie/Emo band Del Paxton was celebrating their tenth anniversary, and they invited the crowd to sing and celebrate along with them. The band displays a great mix of vocals and instrumentals, and they very noticeably have fun performing. Between each song, it’s a treat to see their interaction with the crowd.

A Successful EP Release

The main event lived up to their top billing. Post Prom performed an amazing set in front of audience members packed in front of the stage, proudly displaying their merch. The crowd happily sang along as Post Prom began their set with some previously released singles. The biggest hit of the night was their newest EP, ‘The Restaurant.’ This new release includes tracks Honey You Don’t, Bloodshot, and Breathe It Out. Each of these songs emotes its own feeling, and the performance was filled with interesting instrumental riffs that left the crowd wanting more

With this being the last show before Post Prom goes on a bit of a hiatus, this was definitely not one to miss.
